Are you a Chanel Flap girl? Maybe, you can’t leave the house without your LL Bean luggage? Or maybe you have a bit of an affinity for those sleek crescent bags?
Just by the bag, Beverly Hart can tell who you’ll be voting for this fall.
The content creator previously worked for Congress, but now she’s at TikTok, seeing if she can guess where people fall on the political spectrum based on how they dress. Many of her followers say she is in the country.
Some of Hart’s videos have gone viral — ones in which she analyzes people’s shoes, jewelry, nail polish, headbands and headphones. Then she asks the question, is this ‘giving the Republicans or the Democrats?’

“I’ve worked in Congress for over five years, and at our morning coffee, my friends and I would sometimes play a game where we’d try to guess whether the staff were Republican or Democrat based solely on their clothing,” Hart told the The Post.
She said the game was mostly “for fun,” but they started noticing patterns.
“This makes sense because political affiliation can be a form of social learning theory. It’s human nature to surround ourselves with people who agree and think like us – of course it flows into what we wear,” she explained.
The trend Hart has observed is consistent. Research published in the Wall Street Journal shows that Republicans and Democrats have different brand preferences when it comes to a variety of items — everything from sneakers to cereal.
Clothing has been used to communicate political messages for years, and the last decade has seen no shortage of controversy over political fashion choices. There were Hillary Clinton’s pantsuits, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “tax the rich” dress and supermodels wearing Story Daniels’ T-shirts after the hush money scandal.
But it’s not just celebrities and politicians – ordinary people also show their support every day, most obviously with MAGA hats or ‘Kamala is Brat’ merchandise, but also with ‘Vote’ necklaces, rainbow pride socks and more. in.
Hart seems to have discovered that there are even more subtle ways of revealing one’s bias. Apparently, the brand of the bags says it all.
In one of her viral TikTok clips, she told her followers that this game would be ‘Are you giving the Republican or Democrat the bag?’

First on the list was the LL Bean Boat Tote. This simply stitched canvas bag is handcrafted in Maine, comes in a sea of colors, and retails for under $45.
Hart says it’s pretty clear what the LL Bean Tote is.
“For me, this girl knows what electoral voting is. “She’s been to a few national parks, but that’s not her whole personality,” she suggested. “She wears mostly blue, blue, gray.”
“She’s a centrist Democrat.”
Next, a Chanel flap bag.
Chanel’s revolutionary Flap bag features sparkling metal hardware and a chain-link shoulder strap that made it one of the first designs to allow women to go hands-free. A brand new Chanel Flap can cost upwards of $10,000, but RealReal has some available for just under $3,000.
“You guys know exactly what I’m going to say here,” Hart said. “She exclusively drinks Pinot Grigio and the Chanel Flap girl as always has a Cartier love ring. The Cartier love ring doesn’t always have a Chanel clash.
“Definitely that girl is like ‘I don’t talk about politics. But she’s a Republican.”
The Baggu Crescent lead-free, ethically made bag comes from a Brooklyn-based reusable bag company. It’s certainly a more casual style, given the ruched texture and larger, slouchy construction. But Hart says it’s a great choice for city living.
“Baggu crescent bags – these are actually great if you live in a big city,” she noted. “She probably volunteers at a local community garden. She also rolls her eyes at couples who are in ‘closed relationships.’
“Socialist”, she quickly concluded.

Hart continued, “Next, we have BÉIS The Work Tote.”
The practical device features a sleek exterior and spacious interior, which the brands say is to help you “make the most of your busy schedule” and “stay organized and efficient.”
“That’s like ‘work has been crazy this week’ one girl – when really, she was leaving work at 6pm every day. She’s a rock star in the workplace and I see her as very loyal to a airline. Maybe the BÉIS job site could go either way.”
Hart thinks BÉIS babies are bipartisan.
The beaded Staud Tommy bag is one of the more playful bags on Hart’s list.
Styles range from floral artwork to animal print patterns, colorful abstract shapes and theme-filled styles. Depending on the images, a Staud Tommy bag can run anywhere from $250 to $350.
“Staud Tommy is fun because it depends so much on the model,” Hart explained. “As it is clear that the sardine is a democrat. I don’t know why, but like sardines and like anchovies equal to me – democrats.
“Whereas, this one is more Republican,” she said pointing to Aurora, a pink and purple option covered in flowers.
She then turned to a red and white zebra print, adding “And, this can go either way. That means nothing to me.”
Hart isn’t too happy with this selection, but she still sees it everywhere.
“The last one, the Christian Dior Tote,” Hart said. “You guys throw this bag away. I see this bag so much on Canal Street. It’s so easy to cheat.”
The brand has described the bag as “a staple of the Dior aesthetic” that is built to hold all the everyday essentials. It comes in many elaborately decorated colors and most are priced between $2,000 and $3,000 on RealReal.
“It’s giving, definitely not voting, but going to Mar-a-largo events,” Hart concluded.
Hart’s followers were quick to add more comments to her fashion analysis.
“It’s scary how accurate this video is,” one person wrote. “I feel naked right now with my LL Bean bag.”
Others offered clues about more bag brands that Hart hadn’t touched on.
“Longchamp is bipartisan! Kate Spade is a Republican,” one suggested, while others pointed out that classic leather Coach bags are “hard to use”.
Some admitted that the video was influencing them to make some new purchases.
“How I immediately went to Staud’s website and ordered the bag of sardines,” said another.
